The Acambis Campus, is recognised internationally as the leading producer of smallpox vaccines for emergency-use stockpiles held by the US Government and several other governments around the world. Acambis developed its ACAM2000 smallpox vaccine under contracts with the US Government.

The Rockville, Maryland facility is looking for a Manufacturing Mechanic whose activities include set-up of filling machine, capper and other equipment used in manufacturing activities for aseptic filling of vaccine. Will perform routine preventative preparation, filling, and packaging operations. This person will provide technical assistance and troubleshooting during the productions runs with the equipment.

Job Responsibilities:
Set-up of equipment such as aseptic fill machine, cappers, etc
Perform preventative maintenance of production equipment such as autoclaves, labelers, filler, capper, etc
Document all work in compliance with GMP and good documentation practices
Execute routine and repair work orders on production equipment
Specify spare parts and maintain inventory for production equipment
Execute change over of equipment between products
Assist engineering with upgrades and retrofit of equipment

Requirements

The right individual needs a high school degree and 3 5 years experience as a mechanic in a GMP facility. Experience with Maximo software for maintenance is preferred; experience in the use of precision measuring tools such as calipers as well as repairing/troubleshooting automated machinery such as labelers, fillers, material handling conveyers is desired. Must have the ability to read and work from schematics, electrical drawings, manuals, etc of the production equipment. Flexible hours and vaccination will be required.
