Sr. Systems Analyst

Primary Objective of Position
Describe the primary objective or purpose of this position, in one or two sentences.
Systems Analyst -Responsible for the implementation, ehancement, administration and regular maintenance and support of enterprise wide and local Research amp; Development application and lab systems with primary focus on Research.

Major Duties/Responsibilities
Provide 1st and 2nd level support for Research applications to Elan Associates at in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and IT Quality.
Plan, test and perform the installation, configuration and maintenance of applications and Lab Systems including Lab Desktop PCs.
Identify, analyze, design and implement improvements to existing applications. Investigate, verify, document, resolve and perform follow-up tasks on applications and related problems.
Provide application client and server implementation and support for chemical inventory applications, structure searching tools, electronic lab notebook systems, laboratory automation, bioinformatics applications, image management tools and/or other critical Research applications.
Create and maintain documentation on the current configuration of applications.
Communicate with vendors regarding technical issues. Utilize vendor support processes and escalate, when necessary, through the vendor support structure.
Communicate status of activities to management.
Document all procedures related to systems support responsibilities (i.e. SLAs, work instructions, etc.) and supports IT Quality standards as defined within the IT organization
Write and execute test protocols and scripts. Participate in prototype and user acceptance testing.
Provide support for other projects as required by management.
Facilitate the development of end-user procedures.
Provide ad-hoc and formal application training and support.

Job Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related specialty

Experience

4 -6 years of total work experience
Experience with Desktop PCs, Laboratory instruments and their controlling software
1 years experience Pharmaceutical industry experience supporting Research applications
Experience with implementing and supporting at all of the following: chemical inventory applications, structure searching tools, electronic lab notebook systems, laboratory automation, bioinformatics applications, or image management tools in a Research environment
Experience supporting Linux/UNIX environment
Computer System Validation experience
Experience with support and adminstration of citrix.

Skills/Abilities

Citrix metaframe presentation server administration.
IIS and Apache Web Server support
Validation test execution
VMWare
Multi-tier Application design / architecture

Travel (indicate percentage and type)
Minimal, Less than 5% for work related activities or training.

Other special working conditions
Willingness to work outside of normal business hours to support system maintenance , special projects or on-call rotations. Must carry a cell phone during business work hours and on-call hours.
